(Colour Me Pretty) Black Magic

iPhone case: Moschino • Leggings: TopShop • Bag: Alexander McQueen • T Shirt: TopShop • Boots: Alaia • Smudge Pot: Stila • Nail Polish: Chanel

Whilst we don't really celebrate Halloween here in England, I wanted to keep things current, so put together a little selection of black magic, all of which I would definitely wear if I was going out to a Halloween soirée this evening.

How ever you choose to celebrate Halloween this evening, I hope you have lots of fun :)

(Design Love) Yayoi Kusama

This is amazing...

The Obliteration Room was created by contemporary Japanese designer, Yayoi Kusama, in 2011.

The project involved a series of rooms that had been painted completely white and then, over a two week period, children were invited to decorate the rooms with brightly coloured stickers.

How much fun! I think the results are truely amazing and what a magical experience for the children involved and the designer.

(Out & About) Edinburgh, Scotland

Edinburgh was the most magical place ever and we had such an amazing time there. So amazing, that I often catch myself daydreaming about it and looking forward to our next weekend away. If you haven't been to Edinburgh, I definitely recommend it!

This weekend was the first weekend in a long time where I found myself with absolutely no plans and I loved every second of it. Life has been a little on the manic side recently, so it was really good to slow down for a couple of days. I spent time with my family, caught up on work, made plans for my blog, did homework for night school and started the process of setting up my studio. It was a pretty perfect weekend, if you ask me and I must schedule 'doing nothing' into my diary more often!

More exciting boy news to report, the flights are booked, so this is really happening!! December 27th marks the end of our LDR days, when I will land in San Francisco for a (hopefully) snowy New Year in the mountains and we will return to England together on January 6th! It doesn't feel real yet but the feelings of excitement, they are definitely real! :)

(Autumn Style) Coats

It is no secret that coats are a little obsession of mine this season. I'm sure that there isn't normally such a great selection and I know I could have done a post every day this week, there are just that many to choose from! But alas, these are my top picks for staying warm this Autumn.

(Out & About) Dunbar, Scotland

When Tyler was over from California, we spent the first day of our trip to Scotland in Dunbar; a little seaside village about twenty minutes east of Edinburgh. Tyler spent most of his childhood growing up in Yosemite, so naturally, when we were due to visit Scotland, he wanted to take a trip to the birth place of John Muir; a Scottish born American naturalist, who was an early advocate of the preservation of wildlife. His activism also helped to preserve Yosemite National Park in California; something that is particularly close to Tyler's heart.

We had the most perfect time exploring this little fishing village. The views out to sea were beautiful and the weather was crisp but sunny. It was a great start to our weekend in Scotland.

(Something for the Weekend) An Autumn Stroll

Jacket: Reiss || Snood: TopShop || Jumper: Topshop || Jeans: J Brand || Boots: Tory Burch

I absolutely love this time of year. I think that the air smells different and it makes me so excited about things to come... the changing colours of the trees, weekend strolls in the woods, Bonfire Night and Christmas -- it's such an exciting time of year!

This weekend is another busy one! Tonight, I am getting takeout and watching a movie with a favourite  and I can't wait. As the nights draw in earlier and get colder, I can guarantee this is how I'll be spending more Friday nights in the coming months.
Saturday, I have bridesmaid duties and I'm so excited. I love the fact that I'm a bridesmaid again and I can't wait to help my friend pick out her dress for the big day. Saturday night will be spent celebrating a friend's birthday and Sunday, I very much hope that the weather is good enough for an Autumn stroll and I'll be dreaming of wearing something like the outfit above.

Wishing you all a wonderful, autumnal weekend :)

(100 Things) Week 8

There is a lot of sleeping in this episode of 100 Things but, sad as it may be, I am so happy when I get to snuggle down under the covers after a long day. I only rediscovered my love of sleepovers when a friend stayed over earlier this year. I thought I had grown out of them but apparently not; it was a lot of fun!
Snuggles speak for themselves and my current relationship status is made a million times better thanks to the invention of Skype.
I am dreaming of taking a roadtrip somewhere new, sometime soon and I love nothing better than reading a brand new magazine, whilst snuggled up on my sofa.

What little things are making you happy at the moment?

(Colour me Pretty) Shades of Blue

Dress: Reiss || Jeans: Current\Elliot || Jumper: Markus Lupfer || Coat: Reiss || Nail Polish: Nails Inc.

Is it just me or are there some fabulous coats out there this season? I need a separate income just to finance my new obsession, these things do not come cheap; especially the ones that I have my eye on. Needless-to-say, the boy was less than impressed when I announced that I 'needed to be rich', so that I'd have more money to spend on coats ;)
Well, a girl has got to stay warm!

On exciting 'boy moving to england' news, he has now handed his notice in at work!! Yikes, this is really happening!!
Too excited for words.

(Design Love) Louise Jenkins

How darling are these little illustrations from British illustrator Louise Jenkins -- I absolutely love them!

They are simple but really cute and I think they would be perfect for decorating a child's bedroom or den.

My favourite is the whale -- which one would you choose?

(Out and About) Bramhall Park, Cheshire

This beautiful little park sits a short stroll away from where I grew up and where my parents still live.

I often find that we take for granted the things that are on our doorstep; so when the boy was visiting from California, I made sure we took a visit to this little gem and it didn't disappoint. The park was lush and green from a rather wet Summer -- one perk of living in a rainy country I guess, and the hall itself looked amazing. It is so old but still in such great condition and it is so exciting to think of what it might have been like to live here! I know I will definitely be making more time for this park in the coming weeks, as Autumn continues and the greens slowly turn to reds and browns.

What little gems do you have on your doorstep that you often forget about too easily?

(Something for the Weekend) Monotone

Mulberry have done it again!! Every single time they release a new bag, it goes straight to the top of my lust list and this one is no exception. Ahh, today I will be dreaming mainly about this bag -- well it is Friday after all ;)

This weekend I am off to Wales to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday. It is a surprise for him and should be a really good weekend; filled with good friends, good food and lots of wine. I'm looking forward to getting outside and exploring a new place with my camera.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

(100 Things) Week 7

When life is busy, I think it is really easy to let the days fly by without giving a single thought to the things that made you happiest that day. Each evening before I go to bed, I try to write in my gratitude journal, where I note down a few little things that made me happy or made me smile or made me grateful that day. I like to note the little things in life, as I believe that they make me the happiest.

Here are just a few of them...

What little things are making you happy today?

(Design Love) Anne Lee

I am still struggling to get back on the blogging bandwagon! My course + work + life are taking up all of my time but I will be making much more effort this week. I love this little space and I want to give it as much attention as I can :)

I didn't realise that taking a course in design would open my eyes so much. I feel that I am more aware of my surroundings than ever before and I look at and analyse every single piece of design that I see. Whether I'm in the supermarket or browsing the web, I love to see how a designer brings a piece of packaging or a website to life.

I recently stumbled upon this beautiful flower alphabet by designer Anne Lee and I absolutely love it. Each letter was hand-crafted and photographed in her apartment -- what a lovely project :)

Have you stumbled upon anything beautiful recently?
